This past weekend, I felt my first wave of wedding stress. it had to come at some point, right? We made the trip to Texas primarily to visit my family but also to attend to some wedding details. If you have read some of my most recent posts, they revolve around weddings. It’s that time of the year when everyone decides to get married! Both of those weddings represented two very different styles but were planned to perfection. This got me thinking, Is my venue big enough? Do I need a videographer? What about a second photographer? Are we going to break tradition and see each other before the ceremony? I really thought I had this all under control…
Let me digress for a second. My parents are the poster children of empty nesters. Since they don’t have soccer games and orchestra concerts to attend anymore, they drive all around the metroplex trying restaurants on D Magazine’s “The Best of Big D.” Well it was our turn to tag along. Next up on the list was Crossroads Diner off Walnut Hill lane in Dallas. The bacon was fab, the eggs were ok, the grits were complicated, and honestly, I forgot about the rest of it. The only thing I remember in great detail was the sticky bun.
It was warm, gooey, laden with butter and corn syrup but oh so good. Every bite was a reward for your taste buds. This has very little to do with the post but I thought it would have been a travesty if I didn’t share it with y’all!
Back to the point, long distance wedding planning might be harder than long distance dating. In order to calm my mind and reinforce my ideas, we decided to drive out to the venue.
It’s Still GORGEOUS.
That helped a little until I walked in. It’s hard trying to picture 200 of your closest friends and family all in one space. Then I remembered we already paid the deposit; that made it much easier visualize. It will all work out, it will all work out, it will all work out (the new mantra).
The days consisted of more than insecurities though. We managed to find hotels for our guests, get the ball rolling on the rehearsal dinner, and made a random stop at a glass blowing studio.
Do they have a wedding registry? Everything was beautiful!
That’s it for now. I can’t wait to marry Mr.Allen but I wish there was someone to handle the details. Who am I kidding, I like control, there are just so many decisions to be made.
