Are you looking to reset for the New Year by doing Whole30? I get a lot of questions similar to “But can I do Whole30 on a Budget?”
Short answer: Yes!
Whole30 is a great resource for a reset! It’s finite, it’s supposed to help you break bad habits, and I have never felt better. It’s not for everyone but I love to use it as an an anchor when life starts to get a little hectic and I start to lean towards less productive eating habits. After Whole30, we eat a little more moderately and enjoy the occasional “worth it” treat, like The Cookie Society (Shameless Plug)!
All that being said, it can be pricey to do a Whole30. You are purchasing higher quality meats, more fresh vegetables, and if you aren’t a fan of making your own components like sauces, emergency foods, and sides― you’re paying for those too!
Here are some great ways to try out Whole30 on a Budget. Let me know if you have other tips in the comments!
To save a little $$ try making one of my 5 favorite sauces!
Whole30 On a Budget
Notice I didn’t title the post “Whole30 NEEDS” or must have because you don’t really NEED any of the extras!
That’s a common concern that I hear; the investment is too great. The good news is, you don’t have to buy ALL THE THINGS. I personally love ThriveMarket.com* for a lot of my Whole30 essentials but that might not be a good option for you. That’s why i came up with list of the 13 Items I Would Buy for Whole30.
These items are things that will add the most value to your Whole30 and are worth cost! These will add tons of good, clean flavor to your food and, the good news is: a lot of these items will last the entire 30 days!
Ghee
My favorite cooking fat for potatoes and steaks! Lends a rich and buttery flavor but still compliant!
Balsamic Vinegar
Balsamic Vinegar + Coconut Aminos make a great substitute for worchestershire sauce! It’s also a great salad dressing and perfect for savory roasted veggies.
Coconut Aminos
My go to soy sauce substitute. Add it to stir fry, marinades, and more.
Avocado Oil
Go to for several reasons: love the health benefits and the higher smoke point. I actually use this more than olive oil.
The New Primal BBQ Beef Thins
By far the most pricey thing on the list but is one of my favorite snacks. If you get an opportunity to snag a bag, try them .
Sir Kensington’s Pizza Ranch
I was skeptical but it is so good! It really does give me pizza vibes and is one of the best bottled, Whole30 compliant sauces out there!
Coconut Milk
Great for thickening sauces, soups, and more. I like to but the can of Full- Fat coconut milk and reserve whatever I don’t use in the fridge.
NutPods
My go-to coffee creamer; Whole30 or not! Find several flavors available on amazon.
Primal Palate’s Meat and Potatoes Seasoning
This is life giving. I haven’t made hash browns or roasted potatoes without this seasoning in 8 months.
Primal Palate’s Ranch Seasoning Packets
If you NEED ranch for your Whole30 but also need to keep things easy, grab one of these packets, add homemade mayo, and a touch of coconut milk. BOOM you’re set!
Pederson Farm’s Smoked Kielbasa
Our go-to sausage― Whole30 or not. Great for breakfast but also for my Jambalaya in less than 30 mins recipe.
Chipotle Paste
Go ahead and buy a couple! You will need it for my Whole30 chipotle vinaigrette and my fajita marinade!
Dates
This is great for marinades and sauces. I try to stay away from them as snacks but when soaked in hot water and added to the blender with other ingredients, it adds just enough natural sweetness.
Some other things to consider when trying Whole30 on a Budget:
- compliant salsa
- cold brew coffee
- compliant nut butters
- fire-roasted tomatoes
- frozen root veggies and frozen stir fry vegetables
See? Whole30 on a budget is doable! Hoping this post of ideas helped you think outside the box a little bit. Best of luck with your Whole30 experience!
