Training Camp 2015

I remember sitting here, writing a post at this same time last year. We were still in that blissful newlywed phase, I had a lovely St. Lucian tan, and Jeff was ready to go do his job. We had no idea he would complete camp, just to suffer a devestating injury Week 1. This year, […]

I remember sitting here, writing a post at this same time last year. We were still in that blissful newlywed phase, I had a lovely St. Lucian tan, and Jeff was ready to go do his job. We had no idea he would complete camp, just to suffer a devestating injury Week 1.

This year, thing are a little different; I write this with a sweet sleeping baby in my lap. I listen to her quiet breath as I type away looking for the words to descibe how I’m feeling as my husband begins his fourth season as a Kansas City Chief. I have to be honest, I’m feeling a mix between absolute fear of being a “single parent” for these next few weeks, unbridled excitement as I can’t wait to see all the incredible things he will accomplish this year, and sadness as my best friend departs.

Last year, I spent an entire week filling a box with his favorite snack and homemade goodies. This year I forgot to dry some of his clothes and the modest snack bag I did have time to prepare didn’t make it into the car. It’s ok though. Jeff got to spend his last morning with us and that’s enough. I’ll bring the snacks and clean clothes in a couple days. As I progress in my photography journey, I am learning just how important it is to actually be in at least a few photos. That’s why this morning I decided to set up the tripod and pull out the remote so we could take a few pictures with all of us in them.

I found your website and I’m so glad I did! My boyfriend is an O-linemen too and training camp (going into our 3rd one) is such a mixture of emotions. We have a 3yr old boy and a 6mo old girl and I’m really going though it adjusting this time around with two kiddos. It’s so great to find little niches in the internet that I can relate too, and this post is certainly one 🙂 Looking forward to more & your photos are beautiful- Nothing like a big old linemen with a little tiny girl.

So much love for fellow offensive line women! I hope you find some time to take care of yourself; these weeks get hard as we become single parents temporarily. Sorry it took me so long to reply. I had messed up my notification alerts. Hope to see you back here soon or in a stadium somewhere! Praying for a health season for your man.
