My husband, Jeff has always had a big heart. When we first started dating back in college, I was very involved in the community as a student athlete. I would casually invite him along to some of the service events and I don’t remember him ever turning me down. Now it could be because he was trying to make me his wife (it worked!) or it was because he genuinely cared about the community we were living in and recognized the platform he possessed.
Thankfully it was the latter.
It kind of made me fall in love with him a little more but I don’t think that was his sole motivation.
New Community, New Opportunity
He does really care about where we are planted and immediately upon our arrival in Houston, Jeff was presented with an opportunity we are both passionate about. He was asked to be the Athlete Spokesperson of the Souper Bowl of Caring.
What They Do
“Today, the Souper Bowl of Caring is a collaboration of NFL teams, congregations, schools and compassionate individuals caring for others on Super Bowl weekend. More than $110 million has been generated, and 100% of all donations go directly to food banks, soup kitchens and other charities across the country.”
We have such a passion for food and feeding people. It has been an honor to learn more about the organization’s efforts in communities around the country, meet some of the bright children pushing the momentum and coming up with fresh ideas to help others, and partake in some of the activities leading up the the Super Bowl
As the face of the Souper Bowl, Jeff is featured in a print campaign placed in Kroger, HEB, and Randalls all over the Houston Area. It has been so fun getting pictures from friends who spotted Jeff at their favorite store.
