This is the time of the year when I loan the NFL my husband for a few months, pray for an injury free season, and hope for a play off run! Before the fun can begin, Jeff has to attend training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri. This year’s send off was a hard one considering we just got married about a month ago. To ease the pain, I packed Jeff a basket of all his favorite snacks and made his favorite cookies.
His favorite cookie: Tea Cakes. They are basically super soft sugar cookies but not as sweet. Been making them since 2010, always a hit. Recipe up tomorrow! Camp is grueling, hot, and sweaty; it’s not for the faint of heart.
This year, he told me he needed a fanny pack for the essentials (whatever those are).
Right now, we are just looking forward to crisp fall days, Red Friday, and an ESPN full of football highlights.
I am so proud of Jeff and all the work he put in this offseason. The results will be evident! In an attempt to get a selfie before he left, we ended up with this. It’s barely in focus, my eyebrows need a little TLC, and it’s only a quarter of our faces but its one of my favorites. We go through so many emotional highs and lows during the season. The excitement can really get to you! Here’s to another season of indefinite support and persevering through challenges yet unseen.
If you wish to follow along with Jeff’s camp experience, you can follow him on twitter and Instagram. His handle on both sites is @jeffallen71. I’m headed to St. Joe this Saturday and will be sure to take a few pictures for y’all.
Till next time,
Marissa A.
