Obviously, keeping up with these weekly posts (Week 1, Week 2)in addition to my usual food posts is proving to be more difficult than expected. After a quick trip to Dallas last weekend to celebrate my cousin’s upcoming nuptials and my niece’s birthday, I was wiped.

Jeff was back on the field this weekend which was a relief. No one likes being injured so to see him back out there was great for 2 reasons, no more grumpy Jeff and less time at the stadium doing treatment! The team took care of business against the Titans and they are getting ready to face our old team, the Kansas City Chiefs, in primetime on Sunday night. There is a strong desire to beat your old team but I am excited to see some familiar faces. I remember last year, it was hard not to cheer when some of my friend’s significant others would do something well. Not sacks or anything (obviously) but a nice catch, good kick, etc.

Last season, I did a Day in the Life of an NFL Wife and documented a typical game day. The Texans are kind enough to provide Game Day childcare at the stadium which makes my life a lot easier. I never realized how odd it was for me to show up at a football game, alone, toting two young children. I always get some interesting looks and the occasional comment from a drunk fan. What ever, that’s my life right now!

Even though childcare will be provided Sunday night, I won’t be bringing the kids. I’m actually giddy to attend a game without a kid strapped to me and a bag full of snacks and toys.

Week 1, we were in full Hurricane Harvey Relief Mode and started a partnership with BellaGreen, a local restaurant. They agreed to donated 7.9% of their sales, up to $7900, to Jeff’s relief efforts in partnership with the Houston Food Bank. They raised the funds in ONE Week and we got the opportunity to stop by and thank them for their generosity. They were so kind and excited to help in any way possible. If you stop by, try the bread pudding — just TRUST me!

I have both kids in swim lessons. I had initially signed Joy up for the regular swim lessons offered at a little swim school but elected for a more aggressive one-on-one program this time. She is drawn to water and BOLD about it. If you ask her, she can definitely swim even though that’s far from the case. We are doing Infant Aquatics West U, https://infantaquatics.com/ which is a survival based program. It’s intense; classes 4 times a week for at least 4 weeks but it will be worth it!

Here’s what I have been cooking these last couple weeks:

Chicken Tacos al Pastor

Chili Garlic Beef

Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls

Simple Pasta Salad with BACON

Before I sign out, I thought I would direct you to my Easy Weeknight Dinner Page. I get asked about easy recipes all the time and these are my go-to’s!

See ya’ll next week!
